All child care programs in the PSSBP are operated by non-profit, established community child care operators. Child care programs located at Burkevale Protestant Separate School are licensed by the Ministry of Education to ensure compliance with regulations under the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 and other applicable Acts governing the operation of licensed child-care.
Currently, there is one type of child care program operating at Burkevale Protestant Separate School:
Before and After School Program (B&A): These programs operate in schools where there is an identified need for the service by families, in shared spaces within school classrooms provided by Third Party Child Care Operators. These high-quality programs provide care for children in Kindergarten to Grade 6 before and/or after regular school day hours.
Registration: Please contact the child care organization that is listed as the operator at Burkevale Protestant Separate School (link above) to register for the program directly.
Completed registration packages will only be processed by the child care operator.
Your child’s space in the program for the following September will be considered a priority if completed registration forms have been submitted by June 30 of the preceding school year.
Families wishing to register after June 30 for the following school year may be subject to a wait list.
Hours: Hours of operation vary based on the needs of families in each school; child care operators will confirm hours in June of the preceding year. Contact the operator directly to confirm B&A program hours at Burkevale Protestant Separate School.
Fees: All B&A programs are offered on a fee-for-service basis.
2020-2021 Daily Fees*
Before and After School Fee: $21.75
Before School Only Fee: $11.00
After School Only Fee: $16.00
*Fees are subject to change. Contact the operator directly to confirm B&A daily fees at Burkevale Protestant Separate School.
Child Care Fee Subsidy: The County of Simcoe’s Children and Community Services Department provides Child Care Fee Assistance to eligible families within the County of Simcoe, including the Town of Penetanguishene. Parents/Guardians must be working, attending school, or fulfilling a participation agreement with Ontario Works to qualify.
How do I apply? Residents interested in applying for the Child Care Fee Subsidy program may call the Children and Community Services Department and speak with the Intake Screening Unit 705-722-3132.
***NOTE: Demand and viability are two components that are considered when opening or expanding a Before and After School Program. The PSSBP works in collaboration with the County of Simcoe in their roles as Consolidated Municipal Service Managers (CMSM) and also consults with Child Care Operators to determine demand and viability of expanding existing programs and/or offering a new Before and After School Program. This means that the numbers are viable for a Third Party Child Care Operator to provide a program, and that there is a Third Party Child Care Operator able to provide a program.
